The German-American Colloquium is organized through the collaboration of two directors, one for each of the language groups. Since its beginning in 1990, the German contribution had been directed by Prof. Dr. Anton Rauscher, emeritus professor of Christian Social Teaching at the University of Augsburg and former longtime director of the Katholische Sozialwissenschaftlichen Zentralstelle (Catholic Center for Social Thought) in Mönchengladbach. In 2016 he was succeeded by Prof. Dr. Klaus Stüwe, Chair of Comparative Political Science and Vice President for International Affairs and Profile Development at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
On the American side, the Colloquium has been directed by Dr. Jude P. Dougherty, Professor of Philosophy, and Dean emeritus of the School of Philosophy at The Catholic University of America and a much published authority on social, legal, and political theory from the perspective of classical Aristotelian-Thomistic principles. In July 2010, Dr. William A. Frank, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Dallas, succeeded Jude Dougherty.
